Lizzie could hardly believe her eyes when she received a message from a TV producer. At first, she thought it might be a prank, a clever ruse to catch her off guard. As she read the message again, excitement began to replace her scepticism. Could this be the opportunity she had been waiting for! Lizzie had not planned on becoming a chocolatier or small business owner, but was something that naturally spiralled from a kitchen- based passion project. "I began experimenting with making chocolate from scratch during 2020 after a serious health scare left her wondering what her lasting legacy would be. I had previously worked in an office environment but had to accept redundancy when she was diagnosed with arthritis and fibromyalgia and was left her in pain and unable to continue her role. She can recall making a chocolate cake for my brothers birthday, and found that she loved making the chocolate decorations for the top of the cake more than she enjoyed baking the cake itself. I would look at videos of chocolatiers on YouTube and was curious to see if I could do it myself. Soon Lizzie's business began to gain traction and she started to build a loyal following on social media. For Lizzie's episode, she is paired with World Chocolate Master Ruth Hinks. She says, "Working with Ruth was phenomenal, I was incredibly nervous to meet her and I wasn't sure what she'd make of me or my chocolate skills, but she couldn't have been nicer and her advice and support has been invaluable. Lizzie is thrilled to be part of such a wonderful show, which shines a light on many traditional crafts and skilled people and helps them to build a successful business. The show "Make it at Market" is available to watch on BBC1 March 3rd at 3.45pm and will be available on iPlayer and Britbox later in the year.
